On Tuesday October 19th, the MTFR was dispatched to the intersection of Madison Avenue and Kutztown Rd for an animal rescue. Reports that a kitten was in a storm drain. We arrived and confirmed that there was a kitten in the drain. We were unable to remove the storm grate due to the edges being sealed shut from paving, so we notified the Muhlenberg Twp Public Works for assistance. There was also a construction crew working a block away and they agreed to assist as well. A front end loader came and with a chain remove the storm grate. Captain 66 entered the drain and removed the kitten to safety. A local resident took the kitten. The cover was placed back and the assignment was placed avail.
