May 11th for our weekly drill night MTFR crews went to Laurel Run Park and trained on pump operations. Crews focused on establishing a water supply from a static water source and maintaining the supply during the operation of multiple master streams and hand lines. This allows operators to stay fresh with a task that is only occasionally utilized due to the presence of hydrants within the Township.
Drafting from static water sources is mostly utilized in rural areas where hydrants are not present or occasionally when a supplemental water supply is needed in addition to the hydrant system.
